December 20, 2011, Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu – Day 3
December 19, 2011 — Cusco to Aguas Caliente to Machu Picchu – Day 2
December 18, 2011 – La Paz to Cusco, Peru
We traveled with Sharon and Nova Schauss, Kim and Greg Rayl, Karen Taylor, and Margaret and Danny Richards — all new teachers to the American Cooperative School/Calvert in La Paz, Bolivia. This is one of the trips we had all wanted to arrange when we arrived in Bolivia. We had a fantastic time together!
La Paz to Cusco – Day 1 – We flew from La Paz to Cusco on Aero Sur–took about an hour. Upon arrival we were picked up by our guide, Abdon, who took great care of us for four days!
Holiday Greetings!
Thanksgiving Weekend Project – Recovering 12 Chairs!
Although I wasn’t focused on picture taking when we were shopping for the fabric for our chairs, here are just a few shots from the San Francisco Plaza area in downtown La Paz and a few pictures from the area of the Coca Museum. We’ll visit this museum on a return trip! There is so much to see and do!
We’re finished! We did it! Our weekend project only took two days to recover 8 dining room chairs and 4 breakfast table chairs. Our school would not assist us with a recovering project, so . . . as we had already decided we could never sit on ANY of the dining room chairs (we’ve been here over a month), we needed to take on this project. On Friday I went with a group to the fabric district way uptown by taxi (50 Bolivianos–we paid way too much!). I found fabric for our dining room chairs and then we proceeded on down the hill to the Calle Sarganaga just off the Witches’ Market to purchase some rugs to brighten our apartment space. The chair coverings are beautiful now; however, the seat coverings surely were disgusting while taking off the old. How the school expected us to use these chairs was beyond our imagination–we didn’t. Now we’re happy and will be ready for company on Christmas Eve! 🙂

Habitat for Humanity Trip to El Alto, Bolivia – November 19, 2011
Last weekend we enjoyed a work trip with ACS high school students to El Alto to help with a home for Habitat for Humanity. We look forward to the trips again next year! Working at 13,615 feet was not as difficult as we thought it would be. Guess we have already manufactured that extra pint of red blood cells!
